The 2025 WISER Challenge Event took place at Scarborough, on Yorkshire’s Dinosaur Coast.
Students learned about geological history and industrial heritage on a beach walk with GeoHeritage Rocks, as well as visiting RSPB Bempton Cliffs, where rangers talked about environmental issues (including the recent incident where tankers collided out at sea and nearly caused an ecological catastrophe).
Students listened to talks from Yorkshire Water and Surfers Against Sewage and then were tasked with coming up with a water and public health strategy for the town, which has suffered negative impacts from sewage and industrial pollution.
